785 nm laser for Raman with Enhanced Spectral Purity

HÜBNER PHOTONICS, through the Cobolt Product line, proudly introduces the 08-NLDM 785 nm ESP (enhanced spectral purity) 785 nm laser for Raman as part of the Cobolt 08-01 Series. The 08-NLDM 785 nm ESP complements the Cobolt 08-01 Series of compact high-performance single frequency and narrow linewidth lasers covering a broad range of 405 nm – 1064 nm for the high resolution Raman market.

Enhanced spectral purity is a desired performance specification especially for low frequency Raman applications and defines how well the side modes are suppressed relative to the main laser peak (SMSR) and how close to the main peak the level of side mode suppression is. Thanks to a patent-pending optical design the spectral purity of the 785 nm laser for Raman: 08-NLDM 785 nm ESP, is >60 dB as close as 0.3 nm away from the main peak. The multi-transverse mode laser has an output power of <400 mW with fully integrated electronics in a single compact package.

HÜBNER Photonics expands laser research and production facilities

HÜBNER Photonics expands laser research and production facilities

Kassel, Germany: In order to support the growth of HÜBNER Photonics, the youngest division of the HÜBNER Group, a new facility for research, development and manufacturing of laser technology has been established at the HÜBNER headquarters in Kassel. The new facility, the HÜBNER Photonics HUB Kassel, was officially opened on June 28th 2019 in the presence of staff and representatives from the photonics industry.

Worldwide HÜBNER Photonics has four different locations, with laser manufacturing operations at Cobolt in Stockholm and in Kassel, and sales offices in San Jose, California and Southampton, UK. “We are very glad to now have access to expanded and dedicated facilities in Kassel for development and manufacturing of the C-WAVE product line. With this new facility we will be able to meet the growing demand we see for these tunable single-frequency laser sources, in particular for use in Quantum technology research and in production of holographic optical elements for augmented reality applications” commented Dr. Håkan Karlsson, head of HÜBNER Photonics.

The C-WAVE laser technology was developed in a collaboration between HÜBNER and the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques (IPM) in Freiburg and the unique features of this advanced laser source are now gaining more and more attention on the market. “With the tunable laser light source C-WAVE we have accomplished a truly innovative development in the field of laser technology,” remarks Thorsten Sprenger, head of the Photonics activities at the Kassel location.

Ultra-compact pulsed lasers for LIBS and photoacoustics

Cobolt AB, a part of HÜBNER Photonics, is proud to introduce the Cobolt Tor™ XS, a compact high performance Q-switched laser at 1064 nm and 532 nm, with 100 uJ/pulse and 50 uJ/pulse respectively. The Cobolt Tor™ XS is intended for photoacoustic microscopy applications as well as integration into hand-held or portable instruments for laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS).

Using the same sophisticated laser cavity design as its big brother, Cobolt Tor™, the Cobolt Tor™ XS provides a unique combination for its size of kHz repetition rates, short pulse lengths (<3 ns) and exceptional pulse-to-pulse stability. In addition, the emission is generated in a TEM00 beam and can be externally triggered from single pulse up to 1 kHz whilst all control electronics are fully integrated. The compact footprint of the complete system measures only 50 x 29 x 21.4 mm and weighs <100 g.

Nobel Prize Day: Lasers shine with Physics prize

Cobolt & HÜBNER Photonics welcome this year’s Nobel Prize recipients to Stockholm!

An especially warm welcome to the recipients in Physics for their ‘ground breaking inventions in the field of laser physics’. It’s not often the prize goes to lasers, so as a Stockholm based laser manufacturer, Cobolt was especially excited this year. As part of accepting the Nobel Prize each recipient is asked to give a lecture in their field. It was an honour to have the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics recipients giving their lectures at Stockholm University last Saturday, prior to the formal ceremony on Monday December 10th at Stockholm’s city hall.

HÜBNER Photonics Announces New Security Solution for Postal Inspections

The T-SENSE imager uses high-frequency technology to quickly and simply detect concealed objects and hazardous substances.

Kassel, Germany – November 12, 2018 – The recent series of mail bombs sent to former President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and others have put a spotlight on the security of mailing and delivery services. HÜBNER Photonics, a German-based company with US locations in San Jose, Calif. and Mount Pleasant S.C., today announced the availability of a new second generation T-SENSE, an all-in one sensor solution designed to improve the security and safety of postal facilities around the world.

Using high-frequency technology, T-SENSE detects concealed objects, powders and hazardous substances in packages. Leveraging terahertz waves, T-SENSE penetrates paper, clothing, plastic and many other materials in just seconds, similar to airport screening machines. HÜBNER Photonics debuted the T-SENSE devices for postal scanning in 2016.

”Every post office or mail room in the world represents a gateway for dangerous attacks and must be closely protected,” said Thorsten Sprenger, Head of Terahertz-Technology & Photonics at HÜBNER Photonics. ”T-SENSE effectively detects potential hazards while also reducing costly false alarms. It is also safe for security employees, with no harmful radiation omitted during operation, unlike traditional security solutions, such as x-rays.”

The new T-SENSE can scan letters and packages up to a thickness of 5 cm. The turnkey system includes a plug-and-play setup and intuitive user interface. The compact, stand-alone device includes an integrated computer with corresponding software as well as a touch-screen monitor, mouse and keyboard. All that is required to start working is a normal power connection.
