Cobolt to distribute ALS products in the Nordics

HÜBNER Photonics, a division of the HÜBNER Group, is pleased to be appointed by Azur Light Systems (ALS) of France to distribute their products in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (D/A/CH) as well as the Nordics from June 1st 2017. HÜBNER Photonics’ leading laser technology company, Cobolt AB, will distribute ALS in the Nordics.

Azur Light Systems manufactures high performance, single frequency, high power CW fiber lasers and amplifiers, complementing well the laser product range from HÜBNER Photonics. Ingolf Cedra, CEO of HÜBNER Photonics, says ‘the ALS product line is aligned with our current portfolio ensuring our customers will benefit from being able to source a broader range of high performance lasers in turn leading to a prosperous relationship between HÜBNER Photonics and ALS’. Nicholas Traynor, CEO of Azur Light Systems, is equally positive to the new relationship, adding that ‘HÜBNER/Cobolt have proven expertise and experience in the scientific and industrial markets of interest to us, this relationship should help enable significant commercial acceleration in D/A/CH and the Nordics’.

Thanks to all for a successful ‘Why Photonics Matters in Life Science’ conference.

Thank you to our guest speakers and attendees for helping to make our recent mini conference a very successful afternoon!

Just over 100 people gathered at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm to hear 7 guest speakers talk about their research and how photonics and lasers are helping them find answers. Whether it is for cancer research, brain research or even new spectroscopic methods used in Life science, we all heard how Cobolt lasers are helping them in their research.

Perfect fish bait: Cobolt’s newest market

Cobolt AB have received the largest order so far for the year for an unanticipated application. The Indian fishing authorities have placed an order for an undisclosed number of Cobolt Samba™ 25 mW lasers. The Cobolt Samba™ lasers have the perfect weight, size and splash to attract the largest of Tunis Albacares (Yellow fin tunas).

As all Cobolt lasers are manufactured using the proprietary HTCure™ technology, there is simply no question that the compact hermetically sealed package which provides a very high level of immunity to varying environmental conditions is definitely an advantage to surviving the reel-in adventure associated with getting the tuna on board. Cobolt forecast similar orders already this year from other commercial fishing agencies and have commented that the longer and narrower NLD 785 nm laser could offer improved attractiveness even to the Caranx Ignobilis (Giant Trevally).

Cobolt Twist™ 457nm: Now with up to 200 mW CW single frequency output

Cobolt AB announces the release of a higher power model of the Cobolt Twist™ 457 nm on the 05-01 Series platform. With up to 200 mW single-frequency CW output power, the Cobolt Twist™ is perfectly suited to demanding applications in holography, Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence. The wavelength and optical properties makes it ideal as a replacement of bulkier Ar+ lasers.

The Cobolt Twist™ is a continuous-wave single-frequency diode pumped laser (DPL) operating at 457.0 nm in a perfect quality TEM00 beam (M2< 1.1). A proprietary laser cavity design provides ultra-low noise performance of typically <0.2 % rms (over 20 Hz-20 MHz and over 10-40 ℃), stable single longitudinal mode (SLM) operation, intrinsically excellent wavelength stability and immunity to optical feedback.

Cobolt expands wavelength offering on the 06-01 Series: 553 nm lasers with direct modulation

Cobolt AB introduces a new wavelength of 553 nm on the Cobolt 06-01 Series of plug and play CW lasers. The 06-DPL 553 nm (diode pumped laser) is available with up to 50 mW and offers direct intensity modulation (analog and digital) at up to 5 kHz.

The expansion of wavelength offering of 06-DPL lasers (532 nm, 561 nm) complements the modulated diode lasers (MLDs) already available in the Cobolt 06-01 Series, which offer a market leading combination of modulation extinction ratios (>10 000 000:1) and high speed (up to 150 MHz). Together, the 06-MLD and 06-DPL lasers in the Cobolt 06-01 Series offer a very complete spectrum of directly modulatable wavelengths from 405 nm to 660 nm in a compact form factor, ideal for fluorescence imaging and analysis applications in life science.

All Cobolt lasers are manufactured using proprietary HTCure™ technology and the resulting compact hermetically sealed package provides a very high level of immunity to varying environmental conditions along with exceptional reliability. Lasers built using the HTCure™ technology have been shown to withstand multiple 60G mechanical shocks in operation without any sign of degraded performance. With demonstrated lifetime capability of >60 000 hours and thousands of installed units in the field, HTCure™ has proven to be one of the most reliable methods for making industrial grade lasers and is reflected by offering market leading warranty terms.

Cobolt FandangoTM: Now up to 300 mW CW single frequency 515 nm

Cobolt announces the release of a higher power model of the Cobolt FandangoTM 515 nm on the ground breaking single-frequency 05-01 Series platform. With up to 300 mW CW output power, the Cobolt FandangoTM is perfectly suited to demanding applications in Raman spectroscopy, Interferometry and laser doppler velocimetry (LDV). The wavelength and optical properties makes it ideal as a replacement of bulkier Ar+ lasers.

The Cobolt FandangoTM is a continuous-wave single-frequency diode pumped laser (DPL) operating at 514.8 nm in a perfect quality TEM00 beam (M2< 1.1). A proprietary laser cavity design provides ultra-low noise performance of typically <0.2 % rms (over 20 Hz-20 MHz and over 10-40 ℃), a narrow spectral linewidth of <1 MHz, intrinsically excellent wavelength stability and immunity to optical feedback.
