Interview – Up close with VALO in Photonics Views magazine

Our recent cover tells it all – VALO femtosecond lasers are unlike any other femtosecond laser. The very clean ultra short pulse durations of < 50 fs give huge advantages when it comes to multi-photon microscopy. The resulting increase in peak power in turn means better signal efficiency, enhanced penetration depth in tissue, better contrast and reduced photothermal damage to the sample. Oliver Prochnow, CEO of VALO Innovations, tells Photonics Views Magazine (Vol 19, June/July 2022) about his experience now that he’s a part of HÜBNER Photonics and why a complementary offering in the ultrashort-pulse regime is the perfect addition to the HÜBNER Photonics portfolio of high performance lasers. Hannover-based VALO Innovations represents an intriguing diversification opportunity, with proprietary fibre-laser technology and unique short-pulse performance opening up many new ultrafast applications. “We are extremely excited to add the unique fs laser technology of VALO Innovations to our group. Their innovative mind-set, engineering capabilities and customer orientation make a perfect fit” adds Head of HÜBNER Photonics, Dr. Håkan Karlsson.

Presenting at Photonics for Quantum

June 6-9, 2022: After a long weekend here at HÜBNER Photonics, our German and American offices are excited to be back in person visiting Photonics for Quantum in Rochester, New York, USA.

As quantum technology is something we strongly believe in, we are happy to be a sponsor for this years event of Photonics for Quantum. Alongside that, one of our regional sales managers, and C-WAVE expert, Niklas Waasem is presenting a paper on unique performance characteristics of widely tunable CW optical parametric oscillators as novel laser light sources for PLE.

We are also there with a tabletop display, which you can find located inside the Rochester Institute of Technology, Student Alumni Union (SAU) Building, 1st Floor, Fireside Room. Our sales representatives are happy to indulge in new quantum findings as well as showing you some of our products and capabilites.

New article – Up close with VALO Innovations

Read our latest article on Physics World to understand what makes our VALO femtosecond lasers unlike any other and how the new partnership between VALO Innovations and HÜBNER Photonics will give increased access to new femtosecond laser technology to many exciting applications!

Oliver Prochnow, CEO of VALO Innovations, tells Physics World about his experience now that he’s a part of HÜBNER Photonics and why a complementary offering in the ultrashort-pulse regime is the perfect addition to the HÜBNER Photonics portfolio of high performance lasers. Hannover-based VALO Innovations represents an intriguing diversification opportunity, with proprietary fibre-laser technology and unique short-pulse performance (pulse lengths of less than 50 fs, up to peak powers above 2 MW) opening up new ultrafast applications in bioimaging, spectroscopy and optogenetics. “We are extremely excited to add the unique fs laser technology of VALO Innovations to our group. Their innovative mind-set, engineering capabilities and customer orientation make a perfect fit” adds Head of HÜBNER Photonics, Dr. Håkan Karlsson.

The true advantage of the VALO femtosecond lasers is, in broad terms, a unique way to control all phase contributions that affect pulse quality. This means there is now a way to generate very clean and extremely short pulse durations without any additional nonlinear broadening after the laser.
